1. What do you think are the factors
(reasons) of the increase in social entrepreneurship around the world (and in
particular with your generation)?
2.Would you ever consider working for a
non-profit organization? Why or why not?
3.Have you found the social
entrepreneurship project in class more difficult than the entrepreneurship
(invention) project? Why or why not?
1. I personally believe technology has a great role in increasing social entrepreneurship simply because "the word spreads out faster" now days thanks to technology. Social entrepreneurship is all about society and trying to come up with solutions on how to improve and solve certain issues within society, and the best way is through technology. These are not only opinions but facts which have been proven with specific examples such as KONY 2012 which, as we studied, has been watched from all around the world in a very little amount of time, this is because of technology. Today's society has become much more involved in technology compared to society 30 years ago. Before, when there weren't as many technological innovations as those of today, it was much more of a challenge to "spread the word" and make your solution or idea popular within society. Nowdays, all it takes is a great video or any other method of attracting peoples attention and from there on society does the rest of the job in making the idea more known.
ReplyDelete2. I would work for a non-profit organizaton simply because you never know what truly might come out of it. I am a hard worker and I'm the type of person that likes to be rewarded for the hard work, so immediately one might think that if you work for an organization which makes money off of their idea, you are guaranteed to be rewarded. Instead when working for a non-profit organization one might think that it's a huge "hit and miss" game because there's no money "circling around". However, my mind has changed after seeing actual organizations, such as Facebook, which was a non-profit organization and now it has become one of the world's most successful organizations, therefore yes, I would work for a non-profit organization.
3. Personally I found the social entrepreneurship project much more of a challenge compared to the invention project, simply because it isn't easy to actually identify a problem in society and find a good way to solve it or at least improve it. In other words, sure, everyone knows that poverty is something that should be improved in society and that it should decrease, however it isn't easy to find good ways of helping others other than the boring, old fund-raising way through a car wash or bakesale. Inventing an object is much easier because one can actually think of physical objects one touches, sees, smells, hears, and tastes every day. Also, social entrepreneurship is something that must be continuous, not a one time deal which will solve everything, ex. the line during lunch time at school. They are both very interessino projects to do because they both require critical thinking and group work.
1) I think that the factors for the increase in social entrepreneurship, especially in my generation, are mainly that the population around the world is more aware of what is happening. This is due to the fact that there are news programs, which are constantly on TV and update you with the current news of the moment, also internationally. Another reason is that as applications to universities and colleges become more difficult then people are more willing to make things in order to stand out among the rest of the population.
ReplyDelete2) I would not consider working for a non-profit organization because I would not earn money. This would result so that I could not buy anything not even things to eat. The only time where I may work for a non-profit organization is if I have earned a lot of money before and so I don’t need to work anymore because I have lots of money. It would be a great experience to help the less fortunate.
3) I have found the social entrepreneurship project more difficult than the entrepreneurship (invention) project. This is due to the fact that it is more difficult to see problems in our community rather than inventing something, because there is always something that someone things that he should invent and that would make him rich. Instead it is more difficult to think of a sustainable idea in order to help people. The most difficult thing is that it has to be sustainable which is difficult because there should be a constant flow of money to sponsor the business, but we devised a social entrepreneurship.
1) The increase of social entrepreneurship around the world, especially considering my generation (the current teens), is due to many different factors. The two main ones are that in this moment internet reached almost every single place in the world. Just that made a huge difference because through the internet people realized more frequently what was happening around the world and where constantly aware of the necessities, disasters and of course also positive events and things. Another very important factor that contributes to the spreading of social entrepreneurship around the world are news channels and TV programs which regularly inform people of the major news and especially the flash news.
ReplyDelete2) Working for a non-profit organization could always be part of an option for my job is I don’t find a better one. Working for a non-profit organization would result in a great act of honor to help the less fortunate; but helping the less fortunate also needs to bring some little profit for your own life to live a healthy life. So as Federico said, before I would work in a profit organization and I would start gaining some money. Once I’m rich and I have the money to live all my life happily I would consider the hypothesis of taking part and action in a non-profit organization also through some donations to help the less fortunate.
3)I found the social entrepreneurship project much more difficult because this time we did not have to invent something that could also be considered not affordable and not suitable in real life. We had to invent/think of some king of social action that would have made our school better then it was now. This was very difficult because we had to take in consideration various problems that regarded the school and in the end we thought that the major one was the one of recycling; because in a large school like MMI we use tons of paper every day which could be easily recycled. The final project we came up with was AM-TAC which should stand for AMA and ATAC, it consisted of a recycling championship between Italian international schools and in the end AMA and ATAC would judge who recycled better and would give a prize in money to the school. The prize in money had to be included to push schools to participate in the championship.
1) I think that the main factor that increased social entrepreneurship around the world is the internet, especially apps like twitter, facebook, and youtube. Just think about it; if one of your friends posts a picture of an organization and adds a description on facebook or twitter it immediately goes viral. Same thing applies to a youtube video, a great example would be KONY 2012. As soon as it got posted it immediately went vira; million of people were liking, sharing and commenting the video.
ReplyDelete2)I would consider working for a non-profit organization only if the cause is extremely important, or if the lives of many people are being jeoparized. Otherwise working for a non-profit organization means that I would get paid very little to nothing. A wise thing to do would be open a profitable organization and sponsor this organization through a non-profit organization.
3)The social entrepreneurship project was definitely harder than the first project because finding a social cause and actually gain a profit out of it is very hard. Overall it was a fun project and even though our idea was a bit unrealistic we ade recycling fun.
1. What do you think are the factors (reasons) of the increase in social entrepreneurship around the world (and in particular with your generation)?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, one of the factors of the increase in social entrepreneurship around the world and in particular with my generation is because of the awareness of what's happening in the world, that was ignited by technology. In technology, and specifically with the use of internet, now every information, everything people want to know is due to internet, and as days go by, a lot of users are starting to use more internet. It is estimated that now there are 2.5 billion users using the internet. Thanks to the internet, social network was created that also expanded the society of today, and for now is the best and fastest way to communicate with people, even those who are far-distant. From youtube, to facebook, to twitter, to any social network, everything that people post, if it interests them, it can go viral and notify thousands of people in less than a week. I believe that this system will continue on for generations, and maybe even a few decades, as many people are inventing new, easier and advanced ways to interact with technology.
2.Would you ever consider working for a non-profit organization? Why or why not?
I would consider working for a non-profit organization as long as it helps others, and improves the daily life of people who are in need of resources and support. I would do anything to help another person in need.
3.Have you found the social entrepreneurship project in class more difficult than the entrepreneurship (invention) project? Why or why not?
The social entrepreneurship was more difficult than the entrepreneurship because it requires a lot more steps and procedures, as when its just an entrepreneurship it only requires a brilliant invention to improve the lifestyle of someone, and it doesn't have to be a social cause. This upcoming project, will require a lot more procedures, and gaining a profit out of a social cause will be very challenging.
